Privacy Policy

Overview

Monetre ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal finance app built to help you understand and manage your spending. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it. We keep things simple: your financial data is yours.

Information We Collect

• Account data: If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password through Supabase Auth. Anonymous accounts store only a generated user ID.
• Transaction data: Amounts, dates, categories, and names of expenses you enter manually. We never connect to your bank or read your financial accounts.
• Budget settings: Monthly income, monthly budget, weekly budget, and optional category limits you configure in Settings.
• App preferences: Settings like notification preferences, stored locally on your device.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core expense tracking and insights features of the app.
• To generate AI-powered daily spending insights (your data is sent to OpenAI's API over an encrypted connection; OpenAI does not retain it for training).
• To sync your data across your devices when you are signed in.
• We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

Data Storage and Security

Your transaction and account data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security — only your authenticated user ID can access your rows. All communication between the app and our servers uses TLS encryption. App preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults and AppStorage.

AI Insights

If the AI Insight feature is active, a summary of your recent spending (amounts and categories, no merchant names unless you entered them) is sent to OpenAI's API to generate a personalized insight. This data is transmitted over an encrypted connection and is not retained by OpenAI for model training under their API usage policy.

Your Rights

• Access: You can export your transaction data as a CSV file from Settings → Data → Export transactions.
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at the address below. Anonymous account data is deleted when you uninstall the app or sign out without converting to a full account.
• Portability: Use the CSV export to take your data anywhere.

Children's Privacy

Monetre is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
